Parents' Cod of Conduct

Creating a Safe and Positive Environment for All Players

At Merrimack Youth Soccer (MYA), we believe that parents and guardians are key partners in fostering a healthy, fun, and respectful environment for youth soccer. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations we have for all parents/guardians involved in the program.

Expectations

By enrolling your child in MYA, you agree to the following:

  • I will show respect to all players, coaches, referees, and spectators at all times.
  • I will not yell at, criticize, confront, or harass referees, players, coaches, or other parents during or after games.
  • I will never enter the field of play unless instructed by a coach or referee.
  • I will refrain from using vulgar, obscene, or abusive language at all times.
  • I will not engage in physical or verbal altercations at any MYA event.
  • I will model good sportsmanship, regardless of the outcome of the game.
  • I understand that referee abuse is against New Hampshire State Law (RSA 631:4-b) and could result in criminal penalties and bans from youth sports events.
  • I understand that parent misconduct may result in disciplinary action against my child, including suspension or removal from the team or program.
  • I understand that parent misconduct may result in disciplinary action including suspension or removal from the sideline.

My Role as a Supportive Parent

  • I will support my child by encouraging effort, teamwork, and fun—not just wins.
  • I will allow the coach to coach and the referee to officiate.
  • I will help my child understand that mistakes are part of the game and an opportunity to grow.
  • I will communicate respectfully with coaches and league officials, following proper channels.
